You jumped over the integration of the Reform Party into PC (Progressive Conservative) into what then became CPC (Canada Progressive Conservative). The latter being an entirely different party than the PC. The first CPC leader was Steven Harper…and he was smooth. He was the integration leader. Then CPC had Andrew Scheer and Erin O’Toole and most Canadians could sorta, kinda understand and vote for the new right wing regime. But they didn’t win against the Liberals in Canada, so they chose a career politician CPC (not PC) backbencher in the House of Commons to be leader. Be mindful, that when voted in, this backbencher literally had sponsorship 2 bills in the House (under Harper’s leadership). Since then, nothing. He has done nothing but be appointed a critic under subsequent governments (except for a few months in charge of Housing where he did little). The supporters for the backbencher, M. Poilievre, despised the current PM because he was a “drama teacher”. although they ignored that their new leader didn’t even have that..lin fact he’s never held a job outside of government. Yes M. Trudeau had to go after 10 years just like Mr. Harper did after 10 years. Make no mistake, Mr. Harper did some damage to Canada…it wasn’t clear until he was voted out about his shuttered scientists, and members of his party. Those that under M. Poilievre will continue to attempt to put women’s rights into the Canada Criminal Code where those rights have no reason to be there. Sorry, this was long but PC and CPC are 2 different parties in Canada.
Canada does not need this new Conservative leadership, this trump-emulating attitude that will destroy the Canadian perspective. Canada needs Mark Carney now
Back in the day we’d call these modern CPC folks wackos.
They are the Reform Party under a newer name
